Girona FC falls in Elche in a match marked by local effectiveness (3-0)

Girona FC was unable to score in their visit to the Martínez Valero, where Elche won 3-0 in the match corresponding to matchday 15 of LaLiga EA Sports.

The match started with pace and opportunities for both teams. Girona sought Iñaki Peña's goal with actions down the wings, while the locals opted for long possessions. The clearest chance for the red-and-whites was a shot by Tsygankov that Peña saved. The balance was maintained until the 40th minute, when Germán Valera opened the scoring with a cross shot after a combination play at the edge of the box (1-0).

In the second half, Girona tried to react, but Elche extended their lead in a quick transition finished by Rafa Mir in the 51st minute (2-0). The Elche striker scored again six minutes later, taking advantage of a ball inside the area to net the third goal (57') and seal the match (3-0).

Despite the result, Girona maintained their determination to compete until the end, seeking offensive actions with the introductions of Lemar, Jhon Solís, and Joel Roca. Tsygankov had some opportunities, but without luck in front of the opposing goal.
