Míchel warns about Getafe and demands the best version of Girona at Montilivi
The Girona FC coach, Míchel Sánchez, appeared before the media ahead of the next league match against Getafe, starting his speech with a message of condolence, stating: “First, I want to express my condolences to the victims of the train accidents in Adamuz and Gelida, and also to Getafe player Davinchi, who lost his father in the same accident.”
Already focusing on football, Míchel highlighted the importance of having top-level players and emphasized the figure of Marc-André ter Stegen, stating that “Ter Stegen is a very top player and makes us better,” thus underlining the impact that these types of profiles have on collective performance.
Regarding the standings, the Girona coach insisted on the need to stay focused and reminded everyone of the team's main goal in the championship: “We need to reach 42 points. Everyone has seen that the league is complicated, and there are many teams with little difference in points between them.” A clear message of caution despite the recent favorable results.
About the next opponent, Getafe, Míchel warned of the difficulty of the match and praised the virtues of the Madrid team: “Getafe has very good defensive and pressing resources and are always capable of looking forward. It will be an extremely tough and very hard match. We need to be at our best and have the support of the fans, who are the soul of the team.” In this regard, the coach made a direct call to Montilivi to be decisive.
Míchel also wanted to highlight the contribution of the new signings and the commitment of the locker room, stressing that “The players who have come make us better, and that’s what we wanted. Their arrival is a step forward.” Additionally, he valued the team's response in the most challenging moments of the season: “In tough moments, it’s difficult to give your best version, but our players have done it. They have shown a sense of belonging and the ability to endure.”
Finally, despite acknowledging that the recent results have helped change the perception of the situation, the coach wanted to maintain a realistic and demanding discourse: “The recent positive results make the situation look different, but we must not forget that the league is very complicated.”
