Oriol Romeu; midfield experience

The footballer from Ulldecona, who arrived transferred from Southampton, has played 239 games in the Premier League.

Girona continues to reinforce its squad with just a few hours to go until the market closes. And it does so with the arrival of Oriol Romeu, a versatile midfielder with experience in the major European leagues, who arrives transferred from Southampton and who joins the Club for three seasons.

Romeu, 30, started playing soccer in his hometown; Ulldecona. From a very young age he showed his talent with the ball at his feet, which is why Espanyol signed him where he spent three years in grassroots football. In 2004 he joined FC Barcelona's Infantil A, a club he would be a part of until 2011. There, Romeu climbed the steps until he reached Juvenil A. From there he moved to the Barça subsidiary under the guidance of Luis Enrique, where he was promoted to the Second Division A. It was in the summer of 2010, with Pep Guardiola as coach, when Oriol Romeu made his debut with the Barcelona first team. A year later Barça and Chelsea reached an agreement for the transfer of Romeu to the London team and the Montsià footballer played his first game in the Premier in September 2011 against Sunderland. As of 2013 he has chained two transfers; first to Valencia and the following season to Stuttgart. In the summer of 2015 Oriol Romeu is transferred to Southampton.

Premier League, League and Bundesliga...

The new Girona player has such extensive experience and the figures that summarize part of his career show; 239 games in the Premier, 27 in the Bundesliga, 14 in LaLiga, among other competitions. In terms of titles, Romeu has won the Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup (Chelsea); Spanish League and Super Cup (FC Barcelona) and a U-17 European Championship with the Spanish team. Precisely in terms of internationalities, he has played with the U-17, 18, 19, 20 and 21 teams, where apart from European championships he has played two U-20 World Cups.
