Quique Álvarez's press conference ahead of the match against Mallorca
Girona FC will host Mallorca tomorrow at Montilivi in a challenging match that will serve to gauge the team's current form. In the pre-match press conference, Quique Álvarez assessed the potential of the Balearic team and emphasized the importance of approaching the game with ambition but also with humility.
The Girona coach praised the level of the opponent, convinced that they will be one of the leading teams in the category. “Mallorca is a team that will be at the top. They have a great coach and very good players,” he assured. In this regard, he considers that tomorrow's match will be an important reference to gauge his team's competitive level: “This match will be a good test to see where we stand against a team that I am convinced will be at the top.”
Quique Álvarez also highlighted the defensive solidity of the Mallorcan team and their ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities. “Mallorca defends very well; they are one of the least scored against. And they are effective in front of goal,” he explained, warning of the challenges the opponent will present.
Regarding his team's work, the coach expressed satisfaction with the work done during the week and is confident it will be reflected on the pitch. “Our job is to improve, and I am happy with the week we've had. It makes me feel optimistic,” he stated.
Despite the positive feelings, Álvarez insisted on the need to stay grounded and continue working with maximum effort. “We have to be humble because it shows that everything is very challenging,” he reminded.
Finally, the coach highlighted the positive competition that exists within the squad, an aspect he considers key to the team's growth throughout the season. “A team must have internal and healthy competition, like the one we have,” he concluded.
