Two red cards condemn Girona against Levante (0-4)

Dark afternoon at Montilivi. Girona experienced a true nightmare today, falling 0-4 against Levante in a match marked by two red cards and the feeling of being on the back foot from the 18th minute.

Míchel opted for the same starting eleven that drew last week at Balaídos against Celta, and the start seemed promising: Girona began dominating, with possession and looking for the opponent's goal. But the game quickly became complicated.

In the 18th minute, Wisel received a yellow card for a foul in the midfield. Twelve minutes later, another unfortunate action led to his second yellow and subsequent expulsion. With ten players, Girona had to retreat, and Levante wasted no time in taking advantage. In the 43rd minute, Etta Eyong headed in a cross to make it 0-1. A tough blow just before heading to the locker rooms.

But the worst was yet to come. Just as the second half began, Reis was sent off with a direct red card for a dangerous action on Carlos Álvarez. The same Levante player took the free kick and scored the second goal, threading the ball through the wall and leaving Montilivi stunned.

With nine players, Girona could do nothing but endure the onslaught of a Levante team that took full control of the match. In the 70th minute, Ivan Romero scored the 0-3, and in stoppage time, Koyalipou rounded off the rout with the fourth goal.

The result is a heavy blow for Girona, who remain winless after five matches and sit at the bottom of the table with just one point. The two red cards definitively shaped the match, leaving Girona with no chance from very early on.
