"We come from losing and we have to turn the situation around"

Press conference of Michel Sánchez prior to the match against Sevilla.

The Girona FC coach appeared this afternoon at the press conference prior to the match against Sevilla, which will be played tomorrow, Saturday, at the Sánchez Pizjuán stadium. The coach began by referring to the physical condition of several players and admitted that “when a player gets injured, it is bad for everyone. In the case of Ter Stegen, it is a difficult situation. In the case of Álex Moreno, we are waiting for more tests. He left the match without problems but later felt discomfort in the soleus.” Even so, he wanted to downplay the situation: “It’s football, it’s a shame what happened, but we have to look forward.”

Regarding tomorrow’s match, he highlighted the complexity of the opponent and the demands of the context: “La Liga is not easy for anyone. In Sevilla, we need to play a very good match. They press man-to-man all over the field. To counteract this, the best argument is the work that generates a positive response.”

The coach also gave a brief assessment of the transfer market, trying to focus on the present: “Regarding the market, we have to look forward. I know that the best is being done for the Club. We have a very good squad to continue in the first division.”

In relation to the league standings and the team’s immediate needs, he was clear: “The match against Sevilla is an important one. We don’t have to look beyond ourselves and the goal of 42 points. We are coming off a loss in the last match, and we need to turn the situation around.”

Finally, the coach expressed his personal connection with the Club and the moment he is experiencing in Montilivi: “The best stage of my life as a coach is happening at Girona. I have always felt trust and security, and they have given me a great project. The most important thing is to stay in the First Division; this is the primary goal now.”
