"We want to advance rounds and look far in the Cup"

Girona FC faces its debut in the Copa del Rey this Tuesday in Inca (7:00 PM) against Constància, in a single-elimination match that leaves no room for speculation. Míchel Sánchez's team arrives well-prepared: in this competition, any distraction can be fatal. "In a single match, everything is more difficult. The opponent has special motivation, and everything evens out. We have to be at one hundred percent," warned the red-and-white coach in the pre-match press conference.

Míchel will not be able to count on Livakovic, who is dealing with back pain and will not travel, nor on Blind, who has pubic issues. Several regular starters will also be absent, as the coach has decided to give them a rest. Ounahi, who returned last weekend after his injury, will also not be present, although the coach admits, "We want to take it slow with him."

Girona travels to the Balearic Islands with the intention of staying alive in a competition that Míchel considers key. "The easiest way to win a title is the Copa. Two years ago, we reached the quarterfinals, and it was very exciting. We want to advance through the rounds and aim far. It's a competition I really like," he confessed. Far from seeing it as a burden, the Madrid-born coach sees it as an opportunity to give minutes to less regular players and maintain the group's competitiveness: "We need everyone. It's a good time to play the Copa, and we have players to do well and advance."

Constància, which plays in the Tercera Federación, is aware of the challenge but also of the reward that eliminating a top-tier team would bring. The Balearic team arrives in good form and remains unbeaten at home. "They have used different playing systems this season. At home, they are strong and haven't lost. They want to take the lead and haven't conceded goals. They are in a good moment," acknowledged Míchel, who assures that the coaching staff has thoroughly studied the opponent.

Despite the rotations, Girona wants to avoid any surprises and maintain the good momentum of recent matches. "In the last five games, we've taken a step forward. I feel like we are in a position to look upward," highlighted the coach, who also praised the work of the reserve team: "The B team is having a spectacular season. I like that the players feel they are close to the first team."

With their enthusiasm intact and a clear objective, Girona will look to take the first step tomorrow in Inca in a Copa that, as Míchel says, "is a competition to dream."
