Abel Ruiz, 24, has joined Girona FC this season following the agreement signed with Portuguese club Sporting de Braga for the transfer of the player. The new red and white striker has signed a contract for 5 seasons, until June 2029.
Although he is primarily a centre forward, he can also play on the wings, adding flexibility to the team's attacking options. He has experience in European competition, whether in the Champions League, Europa League or Conference League, as well as the Youth League, in which he played as a youth player with FC Barcelona.
Born in Almussafes, he started playing for Valencia until he signed for FC Barcelona as a youth player. It was 2012. Five years later, at the age of 17, he made his debut with the Barcelona reserve team and later with the first team. In January 2020, he went on loan to Sporting Braga, who ended up acquiring him on loan and where he has played since then in the Portuguese First Division. The Valencian striker made his debut with the senior Spanish national team after being a regular in the lower categories of the national team. In the U21 Euro 2023, he scored the fastest goal in the history of the U21 European Championships.
