Alexandre Moreno Lopera

Left-back Àlex Moreno arrives from Aston Villa. The Catalan footballer has signed a two-year contract, until June 2027.

Born in Vilafranca del Penedès, Moreno came up through the youth ranks at Vilafranca before moving on to FC Barcelona. In the 2012-13 season, he joined UE Llagostera and made his debut in Segunda B. In 2014, he signed for RCD Mallorca, where he played his first matches in Segunda A. He then played for Rayo Vallecano, where he established himself as one of LaLiga's most reliable full-backs, and Real Betis, where he played more than 120 official matches and made his debut in European competitions.

In January 2023, Moreno made the leap to the Premier League with Aston Villa, where he completed two seasons under Unai Emery, also playing in European competitions. This past year, he was on loan at Nottingham Forest.

Girona's new left-back stands out for his speed, refined technique and ability to create scoring opportunities. On the pitch, Moreno is renowned for his dribbling skills, his mastery in one-on-one situations and his constant involvement in attack. His forays down the left flank and assists make him a high-risk full-back for opponents. In defence, the player brings solidity, with impressive statistics in tackles and interceptions. His combination of pace, technique and tactical intelligence make him a special footballer capable of turning a game on its head.
