<p style="text-align: justify;">Holmes Junior, born in 2009, has made remarkable progress since joining Girona in the summer of 2025 and has become one of the most promising players in the club’s academy.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Holmes Junior, who holds both Spanish and Colombian nationality, primarily plays as a centre-back, although he can also operate as a defensive midfielder. His defensive ability, confidence on the ball and versatility are some of the qualities that have enabled him to progress quickly through the Club’s youth structure.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">A career defined by steady progress</h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Initially developed in the youth ranks of Reus, Holmes Junior also spent time at Espanyol and Real Madrid before joining Nàstic de Tarragona’s academy. During the 2024/25 season, he made 26 appearances for the Cadete A side and subsequently stepped up to the Juvenil B team, where he also featured. His progress attracted the attention of several clubs and, ultimately, led him to Girona in the summer of 2025.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In his first season as a Girona player, Holmes Junior featured for three different teams. He made 16 appearances for the Juvenil B before moving up to the Juvenil A side, where he made eight appearances. He was also included in three Girona B squad selections.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">His development has also been reflected at international level. Junior is a Spain U17 international and was part of the squad that competed at the 2026 UEFA European Under-17 Championship in Estonia.</p>
<h3>A standout performer in pre-season</h3>
<p>The most significant step forward came this summer. Junior was one of the reserve-team and academy players called up by Quique Álvarez to begin pre-season training with the first team. The Club included him in the first training session of the 2026/27 season, alongside other young academy prospects.</p>
<p>He took his opportunity in the friendly matches to make his mark, delivering an impressive performance, particularly with his composure in duels and his ability to build play from the back. He also demonstrated his versatility by occasionally playing as a defensive midfielder.</p>
<p>The culmination of his progress came with his official first-team debut on the opening matchday of the season, against Leganés at Montilivi. Holmes Junior was named in the starting XI and showcased his qualities with an impressive performance.</p>
<p>At just 17 years old, his involvement with the first team underlines Girona’s commitment to one of the most promising players in its academy, while the contract extension allows the Club to continue working towards the young player’s long-term development.</p>
