Javier Boñar (Madrid, 3 June 2005) is a right-back who has joined Girona FC from Atlético de Madrid and has signed a contract until 30 June 2030.
He came through the Atlético de Madrid Academy, joining the club at just seven years old. Boñar initially developed as a centre-back before moving to right-back. His versatility, pace, intensity and work rate have helped him progress through the ranks and reach the first team.
In the 2025/26 season, he made 35 appearances in Primera Federación for Atlético Madrileño, starting every match, and recorded four goals and nine assists. At the same time, he made his first-team debut for Atlético de Madrid, playing 16 LaLiga matches, three of them as a starter, and scoring one goal.
His debut came on 14 April 2026 against Sevilla at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. Boñar played the full 90 minutes and scored his team’s goal.
A Spain youth international, the Madrid-born defender now begins a new chapter with Girona FC with the aim of continuing his development and establishing himself in professional football.
