Callens on loan to AEK Athens

Girona FC and AEK Athens have reached an agreement for the loan of Alexander Callens. This way, the defender will play this season in a historic Greek football club that plays in the Super League 1, the Greek first division.

The Peruvian player arrived in Girona during the winter transfer window last season after finishing his contract with New York City.

Trained in the youth ranks of Sport Boys in his country, at the age of 18 he made his debut in the First Division and a year later, in the summer of 2011, he made the leap to Europe to sign for Real Sociedad B. In Spain he played four seasons with the Guipuzcoan team - he even made his debut with the first team in a Cup tie - and two with Numancia. In January 2017 he signed for New York City FC, where he played five seasons.
