Javier Boñar: "The objective must be to get promoted to Primera."

Javier Boñar was introduced this Friday as the new red-and-white player after signing a contract for the next four seasons. The new Girona player arrives after completing the entire preseason with Atlético's first team and is ready to take on the new challenge.

During his presentation, Girona FC president Delfí Geli highlighted the player's potential: “Javier is a young player with potential, and we hope he grows with us and helps us take steps forward.”

For his part, sporting director Quique Cárcel explained the reasons that led the Club to bet on the full-back: “He is a player who has matured a lot in recent years, with room for growth and a clear vision of what he wants to be. With Arnau's departure, we needed a young player with potential, and we immediately thought of him.”

Boñar assured that he arrives at Girona with great ambition and the willingness to serve the team: “I have come to fight for the Club's objectives and to grow as a footballer. I am a team player, and I never give up on a ball.” In this regard, he made it clear that he approaches his time at Girona with his own personality: “I don’t want to compare myself to anyone, not even Arnau. I come to be myself.”

The defender explained that he is in good physical condition after completing the preseason with Atlético de Madrid: “I am ready to play the minutes the coach deems appropriate.” He also clearly set the main goal for the season: “The goal has to be promotion to the First Division. Making my debut in the top category went well for me, and I am eager to start and achieve the first victory together.”

Regarding the change of club after 14 years at Atlético, Boñar admitted that he faces this new stage with great enthusiasm: “It’s been 14 years at Atlético, but I am very excited about the trust they have placed in me.”

The new red-and-white player also emphasized the importance of building a solid team from the very beginning: “In these first weeks, we need to build the team, and once that’s done, the results will come.” He also highlighted his adaptability: “I have a lot of confidence in myself; I am ready for anything and can adapt to what the team needs.”

With the addition of Javier Boñar, Girona FC brings in a young right-back with elite football training and room for growth, who takes on his new challenge with the ambition to help the team achieve the goal of returning to the First Division.
