We are still in the lead

Girona wins with great solvency and continues to lead the Primera Divisió for another week

Three more points in the bag and we are still top of the Primera División. The team, in line with what they have shown this season, played a very serious game and gave Alavés no options. Clear dominators of the ball, Míchel Sánchez's men also threatened the area with danger and were effective in front of goal. Dovbyk was the star of the show with two goals in a good team performance, and Portu found the net again in front of the fans to complete a scoreline that reflects the superiority shown on the pitch.

Dovbik had already given an early warning when he finished off a cross from Couto that didn't find a good direction because a defender managed to deflect the ball slightly with his body. The team, settled in their opponents' half, kept coming and the Ukrainian giant found the net a few minutes later. Opportunistic as ever, he was in the right place to head home the last rebound of a series of shots inside the box. And it was Couto's turn again for the second goal, as he dug the ball down the flank and gave the ball back for Portu to cross the ball to the long post. The player from Murcia, who was making his league debut today, was back in front of goal in front of the fans after scoring for the first time against Las Palmas.

Comfortable victory at half-time with a script that was maintained at the restart. The team dominated and Couto again created the third goal with an exquisite individual play that ended with an obstruction inside the area and a penalty. Dovbyk calmly converted it with a low shot down the middle, paving the way for the three points. Girona controlled the game at all times and did not suffer against Alavés, who hit the crossbar in their only dangerous opportunity.

Girona bid farewell to the year in Montilivi with a victory and this Thursday they will visit Betis with the aim of taking three more points that will allow them to finish a dream 2023 as leaders.
