Míchel: "We need to repeat the energy from the last matches"

Girona FC visits Carlos Tartiere tomorrow with the additions of Witsel, Abel Ruiz, and Stuani. Arango and Lass, from the reserve team, also travel to Asturias.

Girona FC faces a challenging trip to Carlos Tartiere tomorrow to play against Real Oviedo. In the pre-match press conference, coach Míchel Sánchez conveyed a message of confidence and continuity in the style of play shown in recent matches. The coach emphasized that the match is important but without adding unnecessary labels: he stated that "it is not a final" and that his goal is "to continue with the same feelings that the team has shown in recent games." Míchel highlighted that the team arrives with positive momentum and the necessary intensity: "The energy that the team has shown in recent games is what we need in Oviedo. It will not be a decisive match for them or for us."

For the match, Girona recovers three key players: Witsel, Abel Ruiz, and Stuani, all of whom are now available after overcoming their respective injuries. Additionally, reserve team players Arango and Lass will complete the squad traveling to Asturias.

Míchel emphasized the difficulty of competing away from Montilivi but also praised the good work the team has shown in away matches. In this regard, he explained that "winning away is very difficult, very complicated, but the team has done very well on the road to continue growing." The coach expressed satisfaction with the group's progress and is confident that Girona can secure another victory: "I am very happy with what the team has been showing lately. Winning away from home is very, very difficult, but we can achieve the fourth consecutive victory."

Regarding Livakovic's departure, Míchel wanted to make it clear that there was no internal conflict. "We have not had any problems with Livakovic, but having a player who is not comfortable and does not want to play, the best thing was to find a way out."

As for the winter transfer market and the possibility of signing a full-back, the coach was cautious: "We know that there is an option to bring someone in for the full-back position, but we have improved the squad a lot and it depends on the financial situation. If there is an opportunity, we will try to take advantage of it, but my feeling is that it will be difficult for someone to arrive."

He also spoke positively about the reports on young player Izan González, although he ruled out any immediate move: "The reports we have on Izan González are very, very good, but he will not come now. The Club is working for the future, and the sports management is attentive to these situations."

Míchel expressed his affection for Ilyas Chaira, a player trained at Girona and currently at Oviedo, highlighting his progress: "I am very happy for Ilyas Chaira, he is doing very well at Oviedo. I have a lot of affection for him. He is earning his place in the First Division."

In terms of football, the coach explained that the team needs more depth and finishing in the final third of the field. He recalled that against Getafe, Girona made 180 passes in the attacking zone but lacked sufficient verticality: "We have looked at the goal too little. I need the second line, both the midfielders and the wingers, to be able to finish plays. It is important for the team to reach the final third with the ball, but we need to finish the plays."

With this mindset and the recovery of key players, Girona FC will face the match at Carlos Tartiere with the goal of maintaining their good form and continuing to grow as a team.
