Agreement with the Josep Trueta Hospital to promote health and sports

The Girona FC Foundation and the Dr. Josep Trueta University Hospital of Girona have formalized a collaboration agreement to work together on projects that promote health, sports, and healthy lifestyles.

The agreement establishes a framework for joint work between the two institutions with the aim of promoting activities related to person-centered care projects and social inclusion through sports.

The duration of the agreement extends until December 31, 2027, with specific actions to be defined annually through specific addendums. Among the planned actions, the support of Girona FC for the fundraising campaign for the comprehensive renovation of the Trueta Cardiac Critical Care Unit stands out, a project aimed at improving this care space and equipping it with cutting-edge technology for patient care.

Ignasi Mas-Bagà, president of the Girona FC 1930 Foundation, highlighted that “this agreement reinforces the Club's commitment to being a driving force for values and health in the region, putting sports at the service of the community.”

For her part, Àngels Morales, manager of the Trueta Hospital, also highly valued the collaboration, “which strengthens the link between sports and health.” “It will help us expand the dissemination of those projects we promote aimed at enhancing the care capacities of our hospital.”

Collaborations during the 2025-2026 season

One of the highlights of the collaboration is Girona FC's support for the fundraising campaign promoted by Trueta to carry out the renovation of the Cardiac Critical Care Unit, aimed at providing it with both technological and habitability improvements. Located on the sixth floor of Trueta, this Unit cares for people with severe cardiac conditions, such as acute myocardial infarctions, arrhythmias, or post-operative cases of complex cardiac surgeries, who require continuous monitoring and specialized treatment. It has eight boxes and attended to nearly 550 patients in 2024.

Other actions agreed upon by the two entities for the 2025-2026 season include: awareness campaigns through Girona FC's social media; ticket giveaways to encourage flu vaccination among healthcare professionals; donation of solidarity tickets; and visits by first-team players and the mascot 'Canya' to the hospital center.

For its part, Trueta commits to organizing health prevention and promotion talks aimed at players, coaches, and staff of Girona FC, thus reinforcing the exchange of knowledge and the promotion of healthy habits.
