Girona – Alavés: Montilivi to take a step forward

Girona faces a new opportunity this weekend to bounce back in front of their fans. After some inconsistent results, Míchel Sánchez's men host Alavés at Montilivi with the intention of securing three points to consolidate their position and restore confidence to the group.

Alavés arrives in Girona after a home victory against RCD Espanyol but with difficulties away from home: Eduardo Coudet's team has not found consistency away from Mendizorrotza and presents an irregular record as visitors. Even so, they are a competitive team, solid in defense, and with fast players on the wings capable of causing damage on the counterattack.

Míchel highlighted in a press conference:

“Tomorrow is a very important match. We need to win. We will have to play an outstanding game. We need to play with a sense of belonging. In every ball, the fans must be with us. It’s a match to play with both the head and the heart.”

“Alavés has a lot of energy in pressing and makes the most of the goals they score.”

“We need to think that we will all get out of this situation together. I need a team with personality and aggressiveness. We have to play our game and give it our all.”

“Montilivi has to be an impossible ground for opponents, they need to feel the pressure from our people.”

“We need to reset, and I am the first to compete, play, and run.”

“The reality is what it is. The players and I are clear that we need to change things. And tomorrow we have to start applying it. It has to be a change in mentality. The fans need to see that the team is fighting for every ball.”

The match corresponding to Matchday 12 of La Liga will take place at 14:00h.
