Girona clings to Stuani and keeps hope alive

Montilivi continues to cling to faith. Girona salvaged a vital draw against Real Sociedad (1-1) in a sluggish, tense, and nerve-wracking match, but it once again demonstrated that as long as Cristhian Stuani is on the pitch, this team will never give up.

Míchel's team arrived at the match holding onto the hope of staying in the league. Girona had the clearest chances in the first half. However, the game became complicated in the 28th minute when Jon Martín put the Basque side ahead with an impeccable header following a corner.

Girona, however, did not lose their composure. Driven by the atmosphere at Montilivi and their need to fight, the red-and-white team grew stronger as the minutes passed. Ounahi took charge between the lines, Tsygankov brought imbalance, and the locals began to dominate a Real Sociedad that was increasingly on the back foot. Remiro prevented the equalizer before halftime with a great long-range save, one of the standout moments of the match.

In the second half, Girona made a definitive step forward. Míchel once again relied on his eternal man, and Stuani delivered once more. In the 66th minute, the Uruguayan striker seized a ball inside the box and beat Remiro to make it 1-1, sending Montilivi into a frenzy. The goal confirmed once again that the veteran striker remains the competitive soul of the Girona team.

The final minutes were an exercise in resilience and persistence. Girona believed more and pushed until the end against a Real Sociedad that ended up defending the point. Even so, the draw leaves a bittersweet feeling: insufficient to breathe easy, but valuable enough to keep depending on themselves in the final stretch of the league.

Montilivi is still alive. And as long as Stuani continues to show up in critical moments, so will Girona.
