Created through Girona FC’s collaboration with International Soccer Academy, the new team brings together North American, international and Catalan players in one integrated squad that will compete this season in the Fourth Catalan Division.

Girona FC has launched Girona FC “C”, a new international football development project created through its agreement with International Soccer Academy (ISA), an organisation specialising in high-performance European football programs for young North American players.

The program gives players aged 18 and over the opportunity to experience European football from within a professional club environment, combining intensive player development with language studies, cultural immersion and integration into Girona FC.

For its inaugural 2026/27 season, Girona FC “C” brings together players from the United States, Canada and other countries with Catalan footballers to form one integrated team. The squad trains under Girona FC’s methodology and works within the Club’s academy environment, sharing coaches, facilities and the day-to-day standards and working dynamics of Girona FC.

The team trains five days a week and will compete this season in the Fourth Catalan Division of men’s regional football under the Catalan Football Federation. Competing in an official league gives players the opportunity to apply their daily training in meaningful matches throughout the season while adapting to the technical, tactical and physical demands of European football.

Player development is approached comprehensively, with an emphasis on technical ability, tactical understanding, physical preparation and the mental aspects of performance. On-field training is complemented by video analysis, strength and conditioning, recovery and mobility sessions, and individualised player monitoring.

The Girona FC “C” coaching staff is led by Joel Vila, a UEFA Pro licensed coach, supported by José Sánchez, Assistant Coach and Strength and Conditioning Coach with a UEFA A licence, and Roger Garcia, Goalkeeper Coach, who also holds a UEFA A licence.

The experience extends beyond daily training and competition. Players attend Girona FC First Team matches at Montilivi and take part in local cultural activities and international football experiences designed to broaden their understanding of the game and life in Europe.

Among these experiences, Girona FC “C” is scheduled to travel to Belgium to play Lommel SK on 14 October, giving the team the opportunity to compete in another European football environment. The squad is also scheduled to travel to England for a training experience at Manchester City’s City Football Academy.

Through Girona FC “C”, Girona FC continues to expand its player development and international outreach initiatives while creating a distinctive pathway for North American and international players to experience European football from within the Club’s environment.

The collaboration with International Soccer Academy (ISA) combines Girona FC’s methodology, coaching and football culture with the U.S. sports organization’s experience in creating long-term European development opportunities for talented players. The objective is to provide an experience that extends beyond the pitch, integrating players into the sporting, cultural and human environment of Girona while promoting the Club and the city internationally through football and education.
