Girona FC, the first Pet Friendly club in the world
Girona FC has become the first Pet Friendly club in the World thanks to Gosbi, the pet food and care brand. Since the Club and the Girona firm joined forces in the summer of 2021 and Gosbi became the main sponsor of Girona FC, many initiatives have been carried out in favor of animals. Already in July of last year, T-shirts with Pet Friendly slogans were presented on the kits of all the organization's teams in July, from the first team to base football, the women's team, the veteran team and the Genuine ).
A month later, the Animal Respect project and food donations would be launched. In this first year, Gosbi has distributed nearly 7,000 kilos of food for dogs and cats through the Animal Respect on Tour campaign. With this initiative, more than twenty animal shelters from all over the State have been visited, taking advantage of the matches in which Girona FC played away from home, traveling 27,000 kilometers with the aim of looking for projects that generate awareness about animal respect and giving them 300kg of feed to support their actions. Through the @animalrespect_ontour account, more than 23,700 followers have been able to delve into the animal world, told through emotional stories on the street, visits to key places of interest such as entities, institutions or centers dedicated to the well-being of our pets The footprint of the Animal Respect On Tour in some cities has the shape and color of a mural, since in seven cities Ponferrada, Málaga, Lugo, Miranda de Ebro, Sant Sebastià and Valencia, also in Girona graffiti was painted with a theme related to animal respect in the framework of the #dejandohuella project
Another initiative jointly promoted by Gosbi and in this case, some players of the men's First Team, was a dog adoption campaign.
Children and young people were also protagonists of some of the actions that were carried out. More than 400 students from 11 schools took part in the Animal Respect Challenge, which aimed to sensitize children towards animal respect. For next year, there are already 13 confirmed centers that will participate in the action this coming season.
Girona FC has adopted this spirit and committed at the beginning of the last campaign to donate €1 from each official shirt or training shirt sold with the Gosbi logo, to animal aid projects.
