The president of City Football Group states that the Club's sporting and structural plans are guaranteed despite the relegation.
The president of the City Football Group (CFG), Khaldoon Al Mubarak, has sent a strong message of confidence towards Girona FC following their relegation to the Second Division, assuring that the group remains fully committed to the red-and-white club and will do “whatever it takes” to bring them back to LaLiga.
Al Mubarak acknowledged that Girona's relegation has been “a very hard blow” for everyone connected to the club, but he insisted that the immediate goal is to rebuild the sports project to regain the top tier of Spanish football.
“It saddens us greatly. But that is now in the past. We are not sad anymore; we are now focused on what we need to do to get Girona back to LaLiga. And we will achieve it,” stated the CFG's top executive.
Al Mubarak made it clear that the relegation does not alter the strategic plans set for Girona, which he considers a “fundamental” part of the group's global structure. In this regard, he reiterated confidence in the sports and growth project of the Girona entity, particularly highlighting talent development and planned investments in the region.
“Girona is a fundamental part of the Group. We have many plans for the Club because we have a very clear vision of LaLiga, but also of Girona itself, the development of talent in Girona, and in this region of Catalonia,” he pointed out.
The president of the CFG also confirmed that structural projects linked to the club, such as the development of the Academy and the future growth of infrastructure, including the stadium, will continue, making it clear that the entity's roadmap remains unchanged despite the sporting setback.
“As for football, we will overcome this and bring the team back. This summer, we will do whatever it takes and get this team back on the right track to return to LaLiga; it is only a matter of time,” he concluded.
Khaldoon Al Mubarak's statements reinforce the message of continuity and stability from the City Football Group towards Girona FC, with the aim of making the return to the First Division a short-term priority.
