Míchel: "We need to improve in attack to concede fewer goals"
Girona faces the match against Celta with the need to reverse the dynamic and regain confidence. In the pre-match press conference, Míchel Sánchez conveyed confidence in the group and assured that he sees the team eager to react.
The coach explained the physical condition of Lemar and Tsygankov, who are unavailable. “Lemar received a blow to the calf during training. We hope it’s just that, but he needs to undergo tests. Tsygankov has discomfort, but no injury, and it will depend on how he feels,” he said.
Regarding the new signings, Míchel assured that they are ready to compete.
“The new players have trained very little with the group, but they are ready to play. They will take steps forward and can compete tomorrow,” he commented.
Despite questions about the transfer market, the Madrid-born coach preferred to focus on daily work.
“We’ll see if we’re missing pieces or not. Right now, my job is to work. I’m calm about the market and only concerned about the standings and reversing the situation.”
The message to the fans is clear: commitment and hope. “I’ve looked into the players’ eyes and I see a team with enthusiasm and a desire to turn the situation around. The best recipe is to win, and I think it will come. The squad wants to improve and make this a good year,” he stated.
On a tactical level, the coach emphasized the attack as the key to improving overall performance. “Our attack is poor. I need more energy, to create more chances, and to be more aggressive with and without the ball. By attacking better, we’ll concede fewer goals. To improve in defense, we need to improve in attack,” he reflected.
Míchel sees the match against Celta as an important test. “Celta is a good test of how we’re doing things,” he concluded.
