Statement. incidents during the match with RCD Espanyol last Saturday

Montilivi was the scene of several incidents during the match with RCD Espanyol last Saturday. The altercations, which were mainly concentrated in the away area and in the stands next to North Stand, disrupted the normality of any match at the stadium. Girona FC would like, first and foremost, to apologise to all its members and fans who suffered these incidents and who were unable to enjoy what should be a football festival, as are all matches played in our stadium. The Club assumes its share of responsibility for the events, regretting that not everyone behaves in a civic and respectful manner inside a stadium, and, after analysing the situations that occurred, would like to point out:

- The Club substantially reinforced the security arrangements by 30% compared to other matches held at Montilivi.

- Girona FC provided RCD Espanyol with 306 tickets for the away section, which the Blue and Whites sold directly to their fans. In addition to these tickets, 125 exchange tickets - the same as those Girona FC received for the match held at the RCDE Stadium - and a further 50 complimentary tickets were handed out, all of which, in accordance with LaLiga regulations, the visiting club must distribute to its staff, coaching staff and players, as well as sponsors or institutions.

- Girona FC Members had a preferential period of 9 days to purchase tickets for this match. When the sale was opened to the rest of the fans, and assuming that many of the purchases that ended up selling out came from potential RCD Espanyol fans, the Club warned in a communiqué that, as indicated in the rules for access to the stadium, having the attitude of a visiting fan in the home area could lead to expulsion if this entailed a disturbance of public order.

- The Club also detected the possible resale of some seats and, as was done in the match against Barça, the corresponding procedure has been initiated.

- Two people were arrested and a further ten were expelled from the stadium for causing a public disturbance. Girona FC has opened disciplinary proceedings against some of the fans and has proceedings underway to identify others who maintained uncivil behaviour.

- Girona FC understands that fans of any team have the right to be able to attend a match of their team at Montilivi and enjoy a football party together with our fans, in a civic and respectful manner, in the same way that our fans do when they travel to the stadium accompanying our players.

- Girona FC takes note of this experience for the future, aware that our priority must be to guarantee the safety of our fans and preserve the festive nature of a football match.
