Victory at Blackburn to end the stage (2-3)

Stuani, Tsygankov and Blind scored the goals.

Despite the good sensations offered against a Championship rival, the match did not start well for the Girona side due to the injury to Pablo Torre, who had to leave the pitch after a hard tackle in the first few minutes of the game. Stuani opened the scoring when he took advantage of an assist from Tsygankov on the left. Moments later, the Ukrainian finished off a good move by Sávio down the right, curling his shot inside the home keeper's left-hand post. With the score at 0-2, Blackburn stretched their lines and pulled one back through Harry Leonard.

Just after the start of the second half, the visitors scored again. It was a goal from one of the new signings of the season, Dutch international Daley Blind, who received a pass of pure fantasy from another of the sensations of the match, the young Jastin Garcia. The English side pulled a goal back through Leonard but Girona, who played much of the second half with all their reserve team players, were solid in defence. They even had the chance to score a fourth through a couple of efforts from Manu Vallejo and Jastin.

Girona travel to Italy on Wednesday to face Serie A champions Napoli. The match will be played at 18:30h.
