Victory over Sheffield United (2-0)

Sávio scored the first and served Pablo Torre so that the Cantabrian also debuted as a goalscorer

Victory for Girona (2-0) in the first of two matches that Míchel's men will play during their stay in Manchester. Today's opponent was Sheffield United, a team recently promoted to the Premier League. Míchel distributed minutes among his players but four of them played the whole game. They are Aleix, Gazzaniga, Sávio and Arnau. Although the English side were the first to give the visitors a scare with a shot against the crossbar from Max Lowe, Sávio was responsible for levelling the scales of chances by sending a shot wide of goalkeeper Davies' right-hand post. The Brazilian was one of the highlights of the match. The first goal came from his boots and also the pass for the second.

The scoreboard was opened in the 74th minute, after an individual play by Iker Almena who, after getting rid of several opponents, filtered a pass to the right side. Sávio, with his left foot, sent the ball just inside the right-hand post, out of the goalkeeper's reach.

The second goal came in the added time. Once again, Sávio, demonstrating a great ability to unbalance, got rid of his marker to put a ball inside the area that Pablo Torre took advantage of. The Cantabrian, after a great cut-back, smashed a strong shot to make it 2-0.

Girona's next friendly will take place on Saturday against Blackburn Rovers (16.00, Esport3, Movistar LaLiga, DAZN).
