Vilablareix will host the City Football Academy Girona

The new home will have seven football pitches to host the activity of the first teams, the Genuine and the Academy. The complex includes the 16th century La Massana farmhouse, which will become the Club's institutional headquarters.

Girona FC has begun to realise one of its great aspirations: to have its own training centre. With this aim in mind, the club has purchased approximately 23 hectares of land located in the municipality of Vilablareix, which will become the headquarters of the City Football Academy Girona. The new Girona’s home will host the activity of men's and women's first teams, Genuine and the Academy.

The CFA Girona's preliminary project envisages an investment of around 25 million euros, which will be covered in large part by the funds earmarked for infrastructures in the Plan Impulso.

The Club envisages that the complex will have seven football pitches, three hybrid turf pitches and four last generation artificial grass pitches. One of the hybrid turf pitches will also have a stand to host spectators.

The La Massana farmhouse, distinguish this piece of ground, was built in the 16th century, will become the institutional headquarters and offices for the club. The building has more than a thousand square metres where the different departments will work all year round. The jobs are scheduled to begin in the second half of 2023.

Being part of the community

The City Football Academy Girona will be an open facility and held community activities. The Club will carry out different actions for the preservation of the environment and improvements that will have a positive impact on the municipality and its neighbours.

The site will have a health park for the residents of Vilablareix and the surrounding area, who will also be able to get there by bicycle thanks to the adaptation of the bicycle lane between the church of Sant Menna and the town centre. Other environmental, health and physical activities initiatives include collaboration with the University of Girona to promote specific actions in ecology and biodiversity that will have an impact on the surroundings of the CFA, as well as the commitment to compensate its CO2 emissions. These collaborations also include the organisation of races or sporting activities in the municipality or open talks about healthy habits given by the Club's professionals, among others. It is also planned to organise regular meetings with neighbours to share ideas and proposals for improvement. The Club also want to use local products and the promotion of local suppliers in the construction and the operation of the infrastructure.

Strategic project

This new City Football Academy, a project considered strategic and key to the growth of Girona FC, will have state-of-the-art, functional, innovative, and sustainable facilities. The CFA Girona is City Football Group’s newest major training facility and will incorporate the same best practices used within the Group’s other Academies around the world: Manchester, New York, Melbourne, Montevideo, and Santa Cruz -Bolivia- (licence).
