The new red-and-white player assures that he arrives with the intention of "contributing" and with the goal of bringing Girona FC back to the First Division.
Carles Pérez was presented this Thursday as the new player of Girona FC. The Catalan winger, who joins the Club as a free agent after terminating his contract with Celta de Vigo, has completed his first interaction with the entity and is already working with his new teammates.
The president of Girona FC, Delfí Geli, welcomed the footballer and highlighted his willingness to join the red-and-white project: “We thank him for his willingness and enthusiasm to play for Girona. His quality and experience will surely benefit us.”
For his part, the sporting director, Quique Cárcel, emphasized the Club's knowledge of the player and his offensive qualities: “We had to wait until the last day, but we know him very well, with the ability to finish in the final third. He will surely contribute a lot to us.”
Carles Pérez expressed great satisfaction with his arrival at Girona FC and assured that he considers the Club “top.” “For me, it remains a top-tier club, and I was able to confirm that today. In recent years, I’ve made some moves that perhaps weren’t the right ones, and in Girona, I believe this is where I need to be. I’m very happy to be here. I’m here to contribute and with the goal of getting promoted to the top division. That’s my intention,” he explained.
The footballer also emphasized his willingness to compete from the very first moment: “The more competitiveness there is, the better, but I’m already ready to compete and contribute what I can and the minutes the coach decides.” In this regard, he pointed out that his main goal now is to quickly adapt to the new team: “The main thing now is to get into the team dynamic and help the team achieve its objectives.”
Regarding his position on the field, Pérez explained that he can play in different attacking areas: “I can play on the left, on the right, where I feel most comfortable, as an attacking midfielder... I’ll adapt to wherever I’m most needed.”
The new red-and-white player also highlighted the potential he sees in this new stage: “In Girona, I can thrive and give my best level,” he stated. Additionally, he acknowledged that several players he had already met gave him very good references about the Club: “I know several players, and I’ve spoken with them, and they all spoke very highly of the Club.”
Looking ahead, Carles Pérez expressed his desire to have continuity in Girona: “I would like to stay in Girona for a long time.”
